About

What's ASK-EDNA all about?

Events are in our DNA.

ASK-EDNA is a platform to find out "what's going on" in your area of choice.

We've made it SIMPLE and FREE, so no barriers, for Venues and Performers to list and promote their events and activities here, for you.

At ASK-EDNA, we aim to be the fastest most direct way to find out what's happening... anywhere, so you dont need to search different websites for different locations or types of activities, you should be able to go straight to the essential information you need, and at the same time be inspired to try something different.

Dont think of 'Events and Activities' as just for those special days off work or school, but also everyday, hobbies, clubs, socialising, places to relax after work etc etc etc...

What we ask of you:

Please Share the word about ASK-EDNA.

Load the App on your phone.

Encourage your go-to Activity providers, whether a club, restaurant, pub to put themselves on ASK-EDNA.

Message us if we can do more or you can help us.

FAQs:

When I create a FREE Event or Activity Card who sees them?

Events and Activities are visible within a set radius of the Venues location.

When a Venue or Performer is setup they set a radius. The event uses the greater of these.

How do I get my Event or Activity Card to be seen by more people?

When you create a FREE Event or Activity Card without linking it to a venue or Performer it has a radius of 15km.

The radius is the distance from the address in the Event/Activity card.

Users will see the Event/Activity if the location at the top of their screen is within this radius.

To get your card seen by more people you may need to buy a subscription with a higher radius. However, by linking your event to an appropriate Venue or Performer may increase the area too as EDNA uses the maximum of the radius associated with each of these.

How do the distances work?

The distances are straight line distances from the location of the event to the location of the user as selected at the top of the screen. This distance does not account for the twists and turns along the way.

To get a truer distance use the button next to the address/location and Google will provide the route and distance

Why are the Cards/Events Displayed not in the town I select:

When the providers of the services you see on ASK-EDNA are setup they select a distance their customers might typically come to visit them. They will only be visible to customers with a location within this area, regardless of the distance set by the slider.

For example a local pub or restaurant might reasonably select a distance of 15 km, whereas a major event like the Edinburgh Fringe Festival would be of interest to people Nationally or Internationally, not just to those specifically looking for events in Edinburgh.

So the cards you see are a mix of those that are close to you and those that are further away depending on the venues selection.

ASK-EDNA and the providers with wider areas, encourage you to explore further afield. However, you can restrict the distance of the cards you see by using the slider.
